Until now, there’s hardly been a week when Southern Californians have not heard Mike Sakellarides perform on a Los Angeles radio or television station since 1976!

And, as an original air personality on the “new” adult contemporary KOST 103.5 FM from 1982 to 2007, Mike shares over a dozen nationally recognized Gavin and Marconi Awards for excellence in broadcasting.

Mike also has a Golden Mike Award and nominations for “Air Personality of the Year” from both top trade publications, Billboard and Radio & Records.

With charm, and an off-beat sense of humor, Mike Sakellarides has captured some of the largest and most consistent audience shares in Los Angeles Radio history. In fact, he has achieved more #1 Arbitron ratings in the prized 25-54 demographic in the midday than both Rush Limbaugh and Doctor Laura Schlessinger combined!

After six years at KUTE, KGFJ, KPOL, and KZLA Mike moved seamlessly to KOST where Mike holds L.A.’s longevity record for hosting his radio show for 25 years and 15 days. His audience spans three generations of loyal Southern California fans.

Mike’s warmth and fame have also spread from coast to coast as the host of syndicated music specials like “Lovesongs of the Beatles,” “From Lionel Richie with Love,” and “Christmas Memories.”

Mike’s appearances have aided the Retinitis Pigmentosa International (RPI) Telethon. And he has co-hosted over a hundred “pledge” nights on public station KOCE, Channel 50 in Orange County, with celebrities like John Tesh, “Laugh-In” comic Arte Johnson, jazzman Dave Koz, and the friend who taught Mike the joy of live TV by her example, the late actress Meredith McRae.

By 2005 Mike Sakellarides and Daisy Torme set new records for public support as they hosted the Spring Pledge breaks on the future Emmy-winning PBS special “Manilow: Music and Passion.” The show made many new friends and contributors for KCET Channel 28 in Los Angeles.

Mike has been one of the city’s most pro-active radio hosts taking every opportunity to meet and serve his public from being the black tie emcee for the Los Angeles Women In Music Awards in Hollywood to completing 5-k in the “Yule Log Jog” for the City of Hope’s fight against cancer at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl.

And no one enjoys a parade more than Mike! He has been honored as the Grand Marshal for two of Glendale’s biggest events: the “Days of the Verdugos” Parade and the Montrose Christmas Parade.

Mike has also been in the East L.A. Mexican Independence Day Parade, the Los Angeles “Golden Dragon” Chinese New Year Parade, and has been in the world-famous Hollywood Christmas Parade not one, two, or three, but four times!

In, perhaps, the most difficult year for radio employment in decades, Mike Sakellarides is meeting the challenge right now: talking to the best of Southern California’s radio managers and program directors, and working tirelessly to return to the airwaves with all the heart, smiles, and friendship listeners have been drawn to and enjoyed in their cars, at home, and at work; your radio companion for another decade!
